Topic: Reconnecting with Kindness.
Presenter: Dr. Anne McNamara
Dr. Anne McNamara, MBChB, FRACP, FRCP(C), CEC, ACC, is a Certified Executive Coach with a background in clinical respiratory medicine, critical care, and Medical Leadership. Her passion is to coach Physicians and Executives through their everyday challenges and extraordinary stresses. She works with people to build resilience, clarify purpose, see potential and foster joy. She helps lead people through uncertainty and complexity in a way that aligns with their values and supports integration of all the facets of their unique lives.
Objectives:
1. Gain new perspectives about the nature of kindness

Topic: Vulnerability as Medicine: An Introduction to Dr. Brene Brown's Daring Greatly and Rising Strong Process
Presenter: Dr. Joanna Cheek
Joanna Cheek is a psychiatrist in Victoria, BC, and co-founder of CBT Skills Association. She is the Co-Lead of the CBT Skills Provincial Spread Project and Raising Resilient Kids programs. She is the clinical lead for the Physician Wellness Program through UBC CPD and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity for CBT Skills. She has trained in many styles of therapy that have influenced the development of the programs she leads: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, such as Mindfulness-based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Self-Compassion (MSC) and the 2-year Mindfulness Teacher Training with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach (MMTCP), the Daring Wayâ and Rising Strongâ facilitation with Brene Brown's team, and many forms of longer-term psychodynamic in trauma-oriented therapies. She is journalist and Clinical Assistant Professor with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and frequently teaches residents and other physicians in CME.
Objectives:
1. To define the stages of psychological safety and explore tools to foster it
2. To outline the benefits and myths of vulnerability
3. To explore shame, how we offload and armour against it, and steps to build shame resilience
4. To illustrate Bree Brown's Daring Ways arena metaphor, defining the voices that sit in arena, including the critics and support sections (self-compassion, empathy, and clarity or values)

Presenters: Dr Tandi Wilkinson and Shireen Mansouri
Objectives:
1. Identify 3 important professional values
2. Explore personal barriers to saying no
3. Understand the role of self-compassion in saying no.
4. Develop an individual action plan for moving forward.
